Handle VCS exceptions

Description
At this moment if an exception occurs at the VCS layer/functions, then the user receives the debugging messages indicating the respective failure in their full gore.
We should be able to catch the VCS exceptions, catch them (as all other exceptions) and make sure that we don't expose them to the end user.
